Ah, Nathanukah.
It hearkens me back to many many adventures in debauchery that my dear friend Nathan and i have partaken in.
The brunch parties that started as your typical "hair o the dog" drinks with omelettes that turned into day long hootenannies, sometimes resulting in calling out of work the next day.
The cocktail parties where we all put on our favorite thrift store suits and acted classy. Long before we actually were.
Epic bocce tournaments that lasted long after the sun went down and well beyond standard bocce regulation, well into the depths of poor judgement and total disregard for personal safety.
Sooo, the fact that i will not be able to join in the Nathanukah celebration is bittersweet. I will not be able to enjoy the festivities, but on the other side of the coin- there is no way i will have my values compromised or have to see Nathan naked.....again.
Happy birthday, buddy!
Love,
J

The NHL Says "Haaaaaaappy Nathaaaanakuhhhh!"
Nathanukah continued today with a party in one of the penthouse suites at the Scottrade Center for a matchup between the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks. During the second intermission the crowd was greeted with a warm "Happy Nathanukah" from the arena announcer and graphics on the center ice jumbotron.

Blues Game
Damn Blues! I thought they were going to pull it out there at the end. I went to the game tonight, forgot to find out where you were sitting! ack, but I saw the Happy Nathanuka on the jumbotron, that was very cool. Hope you're having a great week.

Nathanukah Day 2: Pet Parade
Emma, Lily, Rufus and I had a great time at the Pet Parade in Soulard. Nathanukah worked its magic again, as we met up with our friend Pete and Ruby, who used to be our neighbors. We hadn't seen them in quite some time, and it was especially amazing since there were thousands of people at the pet parade.

Nathanukah Day 1 Pt 2
Had a great time at various watering holes in downtown St. Louis, although no dancing (raincheck anyone?). Long time friend and "little brother" Doug McGee just happened to be in town -- Especially amazing since we had not crossed paths in over two years. Cheers Doug! Now if only Jake Connelly, Keith Childress & Steve Ashby (Goatloaf reunion?), Mark Reiford, Thomas-in-Denmark, Earl Browne and other out-of-town friends would magically appear...
Happy Nathanukah to Bryan Grubaugh and John Sullivan - and their respective crews - for joining as well.

Caving With Lily
Emma, Lily and I had a great time at the first event - caving in Sheep's Cave in Meramec State Park! As we approached the cave, we were greeted with fantastic ice formations. We spent fifteen minutes marvelling at the giant icicles at the entrance, and then proceeded inside. After a dogleg 50 yards back, the temperature jumped up to about 60 degrees. We made our way to the very back of the cave and the returned. All told we spent 55 minutes underground.
